Forward Pierre-Luc Dubois reportedly intends to test the 2024 unrestricted free-agent market, which might prompt the Winnipeg Jets to trade him this offseason. And recently, trade chatter has heated up that the Montreal Canadiens might be frontrunner in the PLD sweepstakes.

Dubois is a restricted free agent with arbitration rights at noon on Wednesday. It is no secret that Dubois would like to play in Montreal and has expressed that desire within team circles and rumours emerged on Tuesday that a monster could come on the opening of free agency, with the Canadiens sending Christian Dvorak as part of a package for Dubois.

There is also a speculation that the Jets will look to sign Dubois to a one-year contract and spend 2022-23 attempting to convince him to change his long-term plans and stick around under new head coach Rick Bowness in Winnipeg.

However, the Jets are keeping their options open and if Montreal makes them an offer they simply cannot pass up, we might have more mouvement on free agency day than we first anticipated!

Reporter Martin Leclerc from Radio-Canada also reported the Habs’ high interest in Dubois as he states that a trade almost took place at the Draft last week.

Maybe it will now on another NHL special breaking news with the opening of free agency…
