Mike Tyson speaks out after controversial fight against Jake Paul.
The baddest man on the planet has spoken out following his controversial bout with Jake Paul on Friday.
If you stayed up late last night to watch boxing legend "Iron" Mike Tyson take on Jake Paul in what was a glorified 8 round exhibition bout, you probably went to bed a little disappointed. Although the fight card as a whole was pretty solid, the highly controversial main event largely failed to deliver what fans were expecting with neither man ever appearing to truly put his opponent in any real danger throughout the entire fight.
While it may not have been what fans had expected, there was at least one man who walked away satisfied with the in-ring performance that we all witnessed on Friday night and that man is Mike Tyson himself. Just moments ago Tyson took to social media to get a little something off his chest, sending out a message that clearly indicates he was happy with his performance in spite of the fact that he was largely dominated from bell to bell by a much younger man.
Here is Tyson's message, unedited and in full:
This is one of those situations when you lost but still won. I’m grateful for last night. No regrets to get in ring one last time.
I almost died in June. Had 8 blood transfusions. Lost half my blood and 25lbs in hospital and had to fight to get healthy to fight so I won.
To have my children see me stand toe to toe and finish 8 rounds with a talented fighter half my age in front of a packed Dallas Cowboy stadium is an experience that no man has the right to ask for. Thank you
Although the reception to the fight itself appears to have been largely negative, at least judging by the comments on social media, the response to Tyson's message just one day later appears to be much more positive. Here are just a few examples of some of the positive responses Tyson has received thus far:
His opponent, Jake Paul, also responded to his message with some kind words of his own.
"Love you Mike. It was an honor. You’re an inspiration to us all," wrote Paul.
Regardless of what you may have thought of the fight itself, it was watched by over 60 million fans from around the globe so there is little doubt about the fact that it was a huge success for the competitors involved.
Tyson indicated after the bout that he may very well step into the ring again in the future, although only time will tell if that comes to fruition.
