The Pittsburgh Penguins will not have to play without their captain.

On Saturday, Penguins head coach Mike Sullivan officially confirmed that Penguins captain Sidney Crosby would be back in the lineup today when the Penguins take on long time rivals, the Washington Capitals.

There was some concern about Crosby's status moving forward given that the Penguins star forward was dealing with an injury heading into the Four Nations Face-Off tournament, and even appeared to be limited at times as a result of that injury. In spite of that however Crosby did manage to appear in every game for his home country of Canada, eventually winning the tournament in the process.

Funnily enough, Sullivan served as the head coach for Team USA which was defeated by Crosby and the rest of Team Canada in the finals of that event.

Crosby continues to be a force for the Penguins this season with 17 goals and 41 assists for 58 points through his first 55 games of the regular season.

It wasn't all good news for the Penguins on Saturday however with Sullivan revealing that forward Bryan Rust will be out of commission today. The good news here is that this isn't an injury for Rust, but instead it appears as though the forward has come down with some kind of illness and as a result the team has opted to let him rest as he fights off that illness.

Sullivan also confirmed that goaltender Alex Nedeljkovic will get the start today, the Penguins' first game since the extended break for the Four Nations Face-Off.
