Mike Reilly knocked out cold after horrible collision.
A very scary situation as Mike Reilly is knocked out cold after a violent collision on Sunday.
There has been a very scary situation in the American Hockey League, one that has resulted in injury to 29 year old National Hockey League veteran Mike Reilly.
Reilly was playing for the Boston Bruins' AHL affiliate, the Providence Bruins, on Sunday when they took on the Charlotte Checkers, and it would be during the third period of the game that things would turn ugly for Reilly.
Reilly was engaged in a race for the puck with Checkers forward Riley Bezeau, but the two men would get tangled up as they reached the end of the ice. As the two men tried to outmuscle one-another, Reilly would fall backwards in an awkward fashion, resulting in the back of his head smashing against the boards.
Reilly bounced off the boards in sickening fashion and lay prone on the ice for several moments, seemingly completely out cold from the impact.
The Bruins have provided an update and have let it be known that Reilly is walking around and in stable condition, but no further details regarding his status have been made available at this time.
Hopefully he makes a full and speedy recovery.
