What a turn around.

The story of a child actor that goes down the wrong path as he gets older is unfortunately not an unfamiliar one. Often the trappings of fame and fortune produce terrible results when young men and women are exposed to them too early and child actor Shaun Weiss was no exception. Weiss has always had, and will likely always have, a special place in the hearts of hockey fans due to his role as Goldberg the goalie in the hit Disney movie The Mighty Ducks.
Weiss was one of the most beloved characters in the movie and would go on to star in the sequels as well, always featuring prominently among the cast of characters featured in the Mighty Ducks series of films. Unfortunately things went terribly wrong for Weiss as an adult and he became addicted to drugs, transforming himself into a man that many would have never recognized when compared to what he looked like in the movies. Weiss was arrested several times and appeared to be heavily dependant on meth, however it now seems like the child actor has finally kicked the habit and the progress he has made is frankly unbelievable.
Weiss has now been sober for 230 days, not a particularly lengthy period of time but a huge deal for a man that had sunk deep into the abyss of drug dependence. Weiss has since undergone four dental surgeries in order to repair his broken, rotten, and damaged teeth, no surprise given his drug of choice appeared to be meth, and is set to undergo a 5th one later this year or in early 2021. It is truly a remarkable turnaround for the child actor and with him starting to put the pounds back onto his body he is starting to fill out again and even looks like the child start that we once knew.
Although I suspect not many would have ever recognized him at the lowest points in his life, which you can see in the mugshot below, the new and improved Shaun Weiss looks very much like the young goaltender that we all grew up rooting for on the Mighty Ducks.
