Middleweights Nikolaj Ehlers and Sam Steel throwdown in spirited bout!
The smaller guys sometimes put on the best scraps!
If you're an old school hockey fan like myself then you remember some truly memorable scraps from the past decades from some of the game's all-time toughest individuals.
The role of the enforcer is all but gone in the NHL nowadays, but there are still tough as nails players out there who aren't afraid to drop the gloves without hesitation. And, as much as I love the likes of Bob Probert, Donald Brashear, Stu Grimson, Marty McSorely and other heavyweights, I cheered just as hard for the middleweights and lightweights of the day. Guys like Wendel Clark, Tie Domi, PJ Stock and Rick Rypien. But also skilled guys who weren't afraid to mix it up, guys like Jeremy Roenick, Doug Gilmour, Jarome Iginla and Theo Fleury.
That leads me to tonight's tilt between Nikolaj Ehlers and Sam Steel. They don't fit the mold as fighters at all. But when you get under their skin, they drop the gloves without hesitation.

It ain't Probert vs Domi, but it's still old school hockey!
