With many teams looking at him, this might change everything for them:

A few weeks ago, forward Max Domi was one of the many trade baits that could be offered up on the market by the Chicago Blackhawks ahead of the March 3rd deadline.

There were even reported that four teams had emerged as top contenders for the gritty forward’s services with the the New York Rangers, Toronto Maple Leafs, Dallas Stars and New Jersey Devils all being linked to Domi.

While the Blackhawks could use whatever return Domi could get them, Scott Powers of The Athletic reveals how the forward admitted how he’d prefer to stay in Chicago for the rebuild.

“It’s also a challenge, too,” Domi said of the future with the Blackhawks. “You want to be part of that. I think anytime you’re asked to be part of a rebuild or you want to be part of something like that, if that’s the word they want to use, but in our case, just getting better every single day, that speaks volumes to who you are as a person, because they want you to be around that. If I ever get the opportunity to do that, I think it’s something I’d definitely look at for sure.”

Domi knew from that start what he was getting into when he signed in Chicago and has been among their few bright spots in an otherwise miserable season, leading the Hawks with 28 points 40 games.

If ever the Blackhawks prefer to push Domi on the trade market in the hopes of getting an interesting return for him, the 27-year-old could get the chances to play for a contender and get a taste of the playoff and could always return to Chicago as a free agent during the summer, once his current one-year, $3 million contract comes to an end.

Domi understands he could still end up traded to a playoff contender by deadline day, and I guess like him, we need to wait until the last moments to see where he plays the rest of 2022-23.
