The hockey world is in mourning this week, as two former NHL players have suddenly passed away within 24 hours of one another. And tragically, reports indicate that both individuals took their own lives.

Former Pittsburgh Penguins forward Konstantin Koltsov and former enforcer Chris Simon, who played for a number of teams in his career, both are no longer with us.

And it was Toronto Maple Leafs forward Max Domi, who is the son of former Maple Leafs enforcer Tie Domi, who warmed hearts everywhere with a heartfelt statement of support for the family of Simon.

The younger Domi, who registered an impressive career high 4-assist night in his team's 7-3 win over the Washington Capitals last night, had the following to say in his postgame interview:

"First of all, I just said it on TNT out there, but before we get into any of the stuff about the game, a big shout out to the Simon family and just letting them know that we're all thinking of them during this difficult time. What Chris did in his career is remarkable, doing that job, winning a Stanley Cup and being a part of a special team like that is amazing. Our thoughts and prayers are with him and his family."

Certainly a classy gesture by Domi to reach out to the Simon family, who are dealing with the after effects of losing a family member in a tragic way.
