Matthew Tkachuk and David Pastrnak throw down, land huge punches in heated fight!
Things blew up after a full line scrum in the third period.
With just over eight minutes to go in the final period of Game 2 of the second round series between the Boston Bruins and Florida Panthers, the rivalry went up a notch with the Cats scoring their sixth tally of the contest.
Up by five goals, the Panthers still celebrated Brandon Montour’s shorthanded goal and the forward gave a “Wooooo” in captain Brad Marchand’a face. You can imagine how he did not appreciate this. Montour even dared to mock Marchand with some licking jokes and motions, which only made things worse.
A full line scrum erupted, which was hard for the official to break apart, though they eventually managed to do so.
However, when the referees huddled up to discuss the penalties, Matthew Tkachuk and David Pastrnak were close by and clearly weren’t done insulting each other and arguing.
Jawing back and forth at the benches, both players seemed set on fighting. It almost looked like an agreement was in place! Pasta even asked his head coach Jim Montgomery for his blessing.
Then, as soon as they were back on the ice, gloves came off and the fight was on mid-play at center ice.
Pastrnak and Tkachuk threw haymakers at each other and despite going down a few times, the Panthers superstar managed to deliver a solid knockout punch to the Bruins’ forward.
Pasta was visibly shaken but went back in for more, absolutely livid that Tkachuk jumped him and threw a shot on the way down, before they were separated.
On the edge of their seats, fans in Florida were going wild, especially Keith Tkachuk, who was excited by the altercation.
Can’t say the same about Mama Tkachuk though…
What a series! It is now tied at 1 with Game 3 taking place in Boston on Friday night.
