Matthew Knies has profane response to Brad Marchand
The Bruins captain has that kind of effect on people.
The Boston Bruins seized a two games to one lead over the rival Toronto Maple Leafs thanks to a pair of third period goals by captain Brad Marchand on Wednesday night.
And aside from scoring plenty of clutch goals throughout his career, Marchand has developed a reputation of being one of the League's top pests and can get under the oppositions' skin like few others.
For Leafs forward Matthew Knies, the Leafs have to be careful not to get sucked into the "bull***t" that Marchand is known for, while also trying to sell a call from the on-ice officials.
"He wants to get under our skin and influence the refs, so I think we've just got to be composed and not kind of get into that bullshit. Just play hard and make him (less) effective," Knies said.
Meanwhile, Marchand, who was a rookie the last time that the Bruins won the Stanley Cup in 2011, knows that he can't take trips to the postseason for granted.
“Just excited, you know?” Marchand said, via NHL.com. “It’s not a given that you get the opportunity to play in the Stanley Cup Playoffs. Just kind of woke up with that gratitude of being excited, understanding that it’s a gift to play in this league. “Playoffs is something that we dream about as kids."
"I talk to my kids about it and their dream is to play at this level," he continued. "To realize that we’re living it? I just woke up with that gratitude that we’re lucky to be here. You want to make the most of this opportunity.”
The Bruins and Marchand will have a chance to take a commanding 3-1 series lead when the two teams reconvene for Game 4 tomorrow night at Scotiabank Arena in downtown Toronto.
