Matt Rempe rocks Matt Grzelcyk with a huge hit.

A huge hit from New York Rangers enforcer Matt Rempe leaves Matt Grzelcyk in bad shape.

You have to hope that Pittsburgh Penguins defenseman Matt Grzelcyk is going to be ok after his head went awkwardly into the boards.

On Sunday evening, Grzelcyk and the Penguins faced off against the New York Rangers and it would not be long before Rangers enforcer Matt Rempe would make his presence felt in this game.

Rempe would effectively take Grzelcyk out of the game in the very first period when he crushed the Penguins defenseman with a huge hit that sent Grzelcyk into the boards at a scary looking angle. Although Rempe appeared to catch Grzelcyk on his shoulder as he turned along the boards, the force of the impact would send Grzelcyk head first into the boards with his head appearing to take the brunt of the impact.

Grzelcyk would immediately go down to the ice and appeared to be in considerable discomfort, rocking back and forth as he clutched at his head. The fact that Grzelcyk was holding his head is another indication that his head took the brunt of the impact along the boards, and Grzelcyk was still clutching at his head when he retreated into the Penguins locker room.

There has been no official update on Grzelcyk from the Penguins as of yet, but given how this one looked I do not expect to see him again today.

Here is a look at the replay of the hit:
