Matt Rempe absolutely wrecks Trevor van Riemsdyk with brutal hit
Rempire State Building strikes again!
Towering New York Rangers rookie forward Matt Rempe has made the most of his brief time in the National Hockey League, already having developed a reputation for routinely doling out bruising physical punishment.
And he's making his presence known in a huge way so far in the Stanley Cup Playoffs, not only scoring the very first goal of the series against the Washington Capitals but also delivering bone-crushing hits. And it was Capitals defenseman Trevor van Riemsdyk who was Rempe's latest victim during tonight's game.
van Riemsdyk was crunched by Rempe behind the net, resulting in a penalty to the former and resulting in the latter heading down the tunnel toward the dressing room.
And according to the latest report from the Capitals, he won't be returning to tonight's game thanks to lingering effects from the hit.
