The goalie has been trending all day!

Toronto Maple Leafs general manager Brad Treliving did not provide an update on goalie Matt Murray, but his presence in the team’s dressing room on Wednesday spoke for it.
Many insiders, including Jonas Siegel of the Athletic, revealed after practice on Wednesday that all five stalls for goalies were set up in their dressing room with Ilya Samsonov, Joseph Woll, Martin Jones, Dennis Hildeby and Murray in the entourage.
This quickly got out of hand on social media as fans immediately pressed into Murray, claiming that he would be the saviour this time around, coming back to carry the Maple Leafs in the postseason, all the way to the Stanley Cup final.
I must admit I was not expecting fans to believe that Murray is the guy to be trusted in between the pipes for Toronto to make it past the second round...
When GM Treliving announced prior to the season that Murray would miss the entire campaign due to injury, fans quickly moved on and trusted Ilya Samsonov to do the job.
We all know how that turned out, though Samsonov is getting back on track since his return after a reset in the AHL and is confirmed to start on Thursday when the Philadelphia Flyers come to Toronto. Martin Jones did not take part although he did some on-ice work before the team’s practice session on Wednesday.
When it comes to Murray making a comeback, the Maple Leafs’ cap situation will likely prevent them from activating the veteran goalie from the IR during the regular season, but he could return to the lineup come the playoffs when the cap isn’t in effect.
When he was first sidelined after undergoing hip surgery, Murray was said to be out for 6-8 months. GM Treliving recently mentioned that his recovery “has been positive, and he is “doing really well.”
Well enough to get his stall back in the Maple Leafs’ dressing room.
