Martin St. Louis snaps at reporter's question and storms out.
Martin St. Louis was heated at a reporter's question ahead of Saturday's game against the Red Wings.
Montreal Canadiens head coach Martin St. Louis was not happy with a question directed his way ahead of Saturday's win over the Detroit Red Wings, and he made sure everyone knew just how he felt about it.
St. Louis was conducting his normal pre-game media scrum with a number of reporters when he was asked a question in French that appeared to set him off. St. Louis was asked whether or not he had lost confidence in 25 year old goaltender Cayden Primeau after his admittedly poor performance thus far this season, with the question immediately resulting in a disgusted look on the face of the Canadiens bench boss.
"I'm concentrating on coaching the game today," say Louis before cursing in French and storming out of the media scrum.
The Canadiens were playing the second of a back to back against the Detroit Red Wings and once again turned to goaltender Samuel Montembault, leaving many to wonder if St. Louis had lost faith in Primeau. The reporter's question asked just that, whether or not St. Louis felt Primeau was still capable of winning games for the Habs, but it clearly rubbed St. Louis the wrong way.
To be fair to the reporter here the question was a legitimate one with Primeau having just 3 wins in his 11 appearances for the Canadiens this season, as well as an abysmal 4.70 goals against average and .836 save percentage.
It may very well have been a case of St. Louis simply not wanting to answer a question that would have forced him to speak negatively about one of his players, but his reaction certainly won't be convincing anyone of the fact that he still has faith in Primeau between the pipes this season.
