Marcus Foligno calls out 'bullsh**' officiating on Saturday.
Minnesota Wild veteran forward Marcus Foligno calls out the officials and Garnet Hathaway.
The Minnesota Wild suffered a tough loss at the hands of the Philadelphia Flyers on Saturday night and it would appear as though they aren't very happy with the hand they were dealt.
Following the conclusion of the game, National Hockey League veteran Marcus Foligno was incensed and expressed his displeasure with both the officials on the ice and one player in particular in the Flyers lineup.
Foligno was particularly upset with a call that came late in the game, one that sent forward Mats Zuccarello to the penalty box, and went so far as to call out the officials for making the call.
"It's bullshit," said Foligno as per Wild insider Mike Russo.
Although that was probably enough to get him the wrong kind of attention from the league's officials, Foligno wasn't done there. He also had some harsh words for the Flyers' Garnet Hathaway who was accused of elbowing Joel Eriksson Ek in the face during the game, and doing so intentionally, while Eriksson Ek is already dealing with a broken nose.
" [It's] what he has to do to stay relevant in this league," said Foligno of Hathaway.
Eriksson Ek was also unhappy with the officials, feeling that Hathaway should have been given a major for targeting his already injured nose.
Those are some pretty fiery comments, especially coming from a player that has spent well over a decade in the National Hockey League, and I suspect it is a sentiment that is echoed by many of his teammates. One thing is certain given the level of animosity that Foligno appears to be displaying, the next matchup between these two teams is likely to be a can't miss type of game.
That matchup will be on the 14th of December when the Flyers travel to Minnesota.
