Marchand reportedly underwent 3 surgeries this offseason

Some concerning developments surrounding the 36 year old.

According to a report from Boston Bruins insider Ty Anderson, Bruins captain Brad Marchand underwent three surgeries this offseason, but is still expected to be ready for the start of the 2024-25 NHL season.

Anderson reports that Marchand underwent three separate surgeries to repair injuries to his elbow, groin and abdominal muscles.

From Anderson:

Honestly, that explains a lot to me. Something about Marchand's play at the end of last season just didn't look right. I chalked it up to simply aging and to losing his long-time center in Patrice Bergeron, but it's also likely that Marchand was fighting through some brutal injuries.

With free agency pending for Marchand next offseason and with him turning 37 years old at the end of this contract, you have to wonder if this is his last kick at the can with the Bruins. Are we witnessing the end of an era playing out right in front of us this upcoming season?
