This just in, Boston Bruins star Brad Marchand has left tonight's game against the Buffalo Sabres and will not return to action. The Bruins have stated that Marchand has a lower body injury.

It's not clear what exactly happened to Marchand, but he did engage in a bit of a scuffle with Sabres forward Peyton Krebs just minutes before leaving the game.

Marchand stayed in the game for just one more shift following that encounter, but he did appear to have trouble getting around the ice during his last shift of the game:

It's worth noting that Marchand did nurse an ankle injury earlier this season. More to come on this developing story, including an update on Marchand's status when we know more.

If indeed Marchand is out of the lineup for any significant amount of time, he'll join a Bruins' injured reserve that ncludes the likes of Nick Foligno and Taylor Hall.

With the injuries piling up you can't help but think that Bruins GM Don Sweeney had his crystal ball out when making a trade with the Detroit Red Wings for Tyler Bertuzzi earlier today.

In case you missed it, the Bruins sent a 1st round pick and a 4th round pick in exchange for Bertuzzi, a 28 year old pending unrestricted free agent. He has four goals and 14 points in 29 games this season for the Red Wings, but managed a career high 30 goals and 62 points in 68 games just last season. He's a hardworking, nose the the grindstone type player who I personally think will fit in with the Bruins like a hand to a glove. And the best part is that the Bruins aren't removing anything from their roster to acquire Bertuzzi, thereby strengthening one of the NHL's best rosters even more. To put it bluntly, the Bruins are absolutely loaded headed into the playoffs this season.
