Marc Methot rips the NHL and players over All-Star Skills competition.

Methot is not entertained.

The National Hockey League has just put on what may have been the most embarrassing All-Star event that any of the major sports has ever produced.... ever. The league has been ridiculed by both pundits and fans over their most recent All-Star skills competition, an event that appears to have served as nothing more than a sleeping-aid for most of those who tuned in.

It is one thing when those covering your sport and those consuming it don't enjoy the product but it is another matter entirely when even the former athletes from that very same sport can't even manage to stomach it.

On Friday night, former NHL defenseman Marc Methot went on social media to express his disgust with the most recent skills competition, tearing into both the NHL and the players for making the whole thing an ugly mess. First Methot shared his thoughts on the event itself.

"I’ll probably get in trouble saying this, but this whole thing is cringe," stated a displeased Marc Methot via his twitter.

While most have been placing the blame at the feet of the league itself, Methot was also quick to point out that the players share some of the blame for just how lackluster the whole event turned out to be.

"It isn’t cool to actually try in the skills competition anymore, apparently," said a seemingly befuddled Methot.

Methot ended his commentary with a rhetorical question that I think has already been answered given the deluge of criticism the NHL has received over this event on social media.

"Are people genuinely enjoying this?" asked Methot.

No Marc, no they are not.
