Marc-Andre Fleury was back in between the pipes of the Minnesota Wild on Friday afternoon to face the Toronto Maple Leafs. Flower was placed on injured reserve on Nov. 16 with a reported upper-body injury and missed three games before returning against Toronto.
However, his comeback was overshadowed by his own uniform. Fans started to question the fashion sense of the goalie and the Wild as Fleury showed up with his new mask, his red jersey and bold yellow and green pads! The comments from fans on social media have gone from loving the new look to comparing it to ketchup, mustard and relish!
This is what Flower looked like in the game vs. Toronto.
The new look did not bring in good luck, as the Maple Leafs got away with a 4-3 victory, and certainly overshadowed Fleury’s return.
The veteran netminder turned away 23 shots and ended with a .852 save percentage in the game.
It could have an impact on what pads he chooses to wear next. Fleury had once explained to reporters that the yellow or gold pads, worn during his times with the Pittsburgh Penguins and Vegas Golden Knights, appeared to help rival players shoot five hole.
