Maple Leafs sign former Detroit Red Wings draft pick.
The Toronto Maple Leafs organization has added a former Red Wings prospect on Sunday.
The Toronto Maple Leafs organization has recruited a former draft pick of the Detroit Red Wings.
According to a report from Maple Leafs beat reporter Lance Hornby, on Sunday 22 year old forward Robert Mastrosimone agreed to sign a 1-year American Hockey League contract with the Maple Leafs' AHL affiliate team, the Toronto Marlies.
Mastrosimone already has some familiarity when it comes to working with an NHL organization having been previously drafted by the Detroit Red wings in the 2nd round (54th overall) of the 2019 NHL Entry Draft. Since being drafted, Mastrosimone has been playing collegiate hockey with 3 seasons at Boston University and his most recent season at Arizona State University.
In his most recent campaign, the 22 year old native of East Islip, New York recorded 11 goals and added 31 assists for a total of 42 points, by far the most productive season of his collegiate career.
It is no doubt that strong campaign at Arizona State University that put him back on the radar for NHL organizations, and now Mastrosimone will get the chance to show that he can continue to improve at the professional level.
