Maple Leafs raise eyebrows with their selection of Easton Cowan

There were not many people who anticipated that this would be the very first selection in an NHL Draft by new Toronto Maple Leafs general manager Brad Treliving. 

Toronto entered the 2023 NHL Draft with the 28 overall selection, and while there was some speculation that they could perhaps move the pick in a trade to try and move up, they instead stood pat and announced Easton Cowan from the London Knights as the newest member of their organization. 

Needless to say, it was an interesting selection for the Leafs, as just about nobody saw it coming.
