It appears as though the professional hockey career for veteran defenseman Danny DeKeyser could be coming to an end.
He's been cut by the Toronto Marlies, the American Hockey League affiliate of the Toronto Maple Leafs after three games. This is now the second time that he's been cut, as he was also cut from his professional tryout from the Vancouver Canucks earlier this fall.
DeKeyser, who signed with the Red Wings in 2013 after playing collegiately at Western Michigan University, had just completed the final year of the massive six year, $30 million contract extension given to him by former Red Wings GM Ken Holland. He struggled to regain form following his return from back surgery, and with his -8 plus/minus rating certainly not helping things, DeKeyser was routinely been caught out of position and beaten on the ice by opponents in the 59 games he appeared in this past season.
