Maple Leafs make lineup changes amid backlash from latest trade!
Ahead of tonight’s game vs. the Rangers in New York
Newly-acquired Scott Laughton hasn’t impressed the Maple Leafs’ fanbase or anyone in Toronto for that matter, but he’s not the one paying the price.
On Thursday, hours ahead of the Leafs’ matchup against the Rangers in New York, head coach Craig Berube made changes to his lineup.
While he pulled one player off his fourth line, it’s not Laughton who will be sitting in the press box. David Kampf will come in for Calle Jarnkrok tonight against the Rangers.
On Wednesday night against the Colorado Avalanche, Laughton had another bad showing, getting 11 minutes and 13 seconds of ice time in a 2-1 win for Toronto. He however failed to register even just one shot on goal.
When Laughton was first demoted on the fourth line, coach Berube had tried to get ahead of the a potential media circus after spending significant assets to acquire Laughton by saying that he was wanted to see how Laughton would fit on a an identity line, a checking line with Steven Lorentz and Järnkrok.
At one point last night, Pontus Holmberg was dropped down to the fourth line with Lorentz and Laughton, while Järnkrok was the one who got up with John Tavares and William Nylander.
Let's see how that works out for the Maple Leafs tonight in New York.
