Maple Leafs make last minute surprise changes to lineup.

Maple Leafs head coach Craig Berube has made a number of last minute changes to his lineup.

The Toronto Maple Leafs have made a number of last minute changes to their lineup ahead of tonight's game against Sidney Crosby and the Pittsburgh Penguins.

Earlier today it was announced that veteran forward Max Pacioretty was coming off of injured reserve and that veteran defenseman Jake McCabe was going on injured reserve, but it would seem that those two changes were only scratching the surface.

After some truly ugly plays, including a particularly brutal offside, in his last outing it looks as though Maple Leafs forward Nicholas Robertson has earned himself a healthy scratch in the eyes of Maple Leafs head coach Craig Berube. Instead it will be Alex Nylander, brother of Maple Leafs star forward William Nylander, who will slot into the lineup tonight on the third line alongside Pontus Holmberg and Fraser Minten.

Pacioretty will be moving right up to the team's top line this evening alongside star forward Mitch Marner and Maple Leafs captain Auston Matthews, which means that Matthew Knies is getting bumped down to the team's second line where he will play with John Tavares and the aforementioned William Nylander.

Here is a breakdown of the full lineup:

Pacioretty-Matthews-Marner
Knies-Tavares-William Nylander
Holmberg-Minten-Alex Nylander
Lorentz-Dewar-Reaves

Rielly-Myers
OEL-Tanev
Benoit-Timmins

These are of course the changes that were shown in warmups and Berube will be free to mix up his lines as he pleases throughout the course of tonight's game.
