Maple Leafs make goalie move following latest update on Stolarz’s injury
The goalie left last night’s game, forcing Toronto to make an urgent transaction.
Goalie Anthony Stolarz left last night’s game for the Maple Leafs due to a lower-body injury and did not return as Toronto won 3-2 over the visiting Anaheim Ducks.
Stolarz had started the game, but once the second period came around, Joseph Woll was in the crease, with the Leafs announcing that Stolarz wouldn’t return shortly after. He stopped seven of eight shots faced and was not credited with the win.
On Friday morning, TSN’s Darren Dreger reported that the Maple Leafs were awaiting further results on Stolarz’s evaluation and the team had therefore called up Dennis Hildeby from their American Hockey League roster.
There havent’t been more details offered on Stolarz’s condition though the recall of Hildeby doesn’t bode well for the situation.
The young giant goalie played a pair of games for the Maple Leafs early on in the season, posting a 1-1-0 record.
As for Stolarz, he had become the Maple Leafs’ top guy in net, putting up a 9-5-2 record with a .927 save percentage and 2.15 goals against average in 17 starts this season.
If he were to miss significant time, this would be a huge blow to the Maple Leafs.
