Maple Leafs lose rights to pair of Kyle Dubas draft picks
They're now free to seek other opportunities.
The Toronto Maple Leafs have now officially lost the rights to a pair of draft selections made by former general manager Kyle Dubas, as the August 15 deadline to retain their rights has passed.
Both Veeti Miettinen and Mikey Koster are now free to look for other NHL opportunities; Miettinen has already secured a contract in his native Finland, while Koster is returning for another year with the University of Minnesota.
Miettinen was a 6th round selection of the Maple Leafs in the 2020 NHL Draft; he's spent the last four seasons playing at St. Cloud State University, scoring a total of 118 points.
Meanwhile, Koster was a 2019 Round 5 (146th overall) pick of the Maple Leafs; he's spent the last four years playing collegiately with Minnesota, registering 69 points.
