Maple Leafs have reportedly named new GM

It looks as though the Toronto Maple Leafs have their new general manger in sight just weeks after having made the call to terminate Kyle Dubas. 

According to a report from TSN's Darren Dreger, all signs point to the Leafs hiring former Calgary Flames GM Brad Treliving. He wrote on Twitter earlier tonight: 

"We updated the Toronto Maple Leafs GM search earlier tonight Insider Trading. More specifically, all signs now point to the search wrapping up in the very near future with Brad Treliving being named as the new GM."

The 53-year-old British Columbia native was hired by the Flames as their general manager in April of 2014, a position he held until the conclusion of this season. They made the playoffs five times during his time in Calgary, which included two postseason victories over the Vancouver Canucks (2015) and Dallas Stars (2022) respectively. 

He co-founded the Western Professional League, and would later become the assistant general manager of the Phoenix Coyotes under Don Maloney. 

Among the other candidates that were reportedly considered by the Leafs included Jason Botterill, Marc Bergevin, and Peter Chiarelli.
