The Toronto Maple Leafs are the Boston Bruins tonight, however, they will do so without captain Auston Matthews. On Tuesday morning, the team announced that Matthews will not be available for tonight’s contest. He is considered day to day.
The team has indicated the absence is due to an upper-body injury. He’ll be evaluated daily and hasn’t been ruled out for Friday’s game against the Detroit Red Wings.
The star forward played in Sunday's 2-1 loss to the Minnesota Wild, notching an assist in 22:12 minutes of ice time. So far this season, Matthews has five goals and 11 points in 13 games.
The Maple Leafs have been dealing with ups and downs since the start to 2024-25, putting up a 6-5-2 record so far this season and sitting third in the Atlantic Division.
