The Toronto Maple Leafs announce their final round of roster cuts ahead of the NHL season.

The Toronto Maple Leafs are now just two days away from the official start of their regular season, and with that comes the final round of roster cuts of the preseason.

All teams in the National Hockey League must have their rosters locked in by 5pm EST on Monday, so there is still technically time for the Maple Leafs to make some adjustments but I expect this will be the last wave of significant cuts to the Maple Leafs roster before today's deadline.

In total the Leafs are trimming down their roster by 10 players, with all of them being assigned to the Toronto Marlies. We have 7 forwards, 2 defensemen and a goaltender being sent down to the American Hockey League and they are the following players:

F Nick Abruzzese
F Max Ellis
G Dennis Hildeby
F Roni Hirvonen
F Pontus Holmberg
D Topi Niemelä
D Marshall Rifai
F Nicholas Robertson
F Logan Shaw
F Ryan Tverberg

The appearance of certain names on this list, notably that of Nicholas Robertson, has led to some speculation that Fraser Minten has made the opening day roster but the Leafs have not yet announced their roster for the season opener in any official capacity. The team could still technically claim a player on waivers prior to the 5pm deadline and could still make adjustments based on those moves as well.

Stay tuned.
