The way Bruce Boudreau was let go in Vancouver was just awfully messy, but despite the way the situation had been handled, his passion for coaching never waivered and remains strong. Strong enough for him to want to get another shot behind an NHL bench.

“I don’t want to step away from it, I love this. I mean, I could’ve gone back to work yesterday,” Boudreau said on the NHL Morning Skate on SiriusXM NHL Monday morning. “It gets you mad when it happens because nobody likes it…but for me, I want to show everybody that I’m still good.

“Until I can’t skate anymore, and I’m not a great skater now but I can move around the ice still, I want to keep going.”
While he feels that he is not done coaching in the NHL, there is a sense that no matter, Boudreau will be hired very soon.

Michael Russo of the Athletic has revealed that many job opportunities have already land in his lap:

“He’s already been offered an interview on Sportsnet’s “Hockey Night in Canada” this Saturday. He’s already been offered a chance to be on the panel for “TSN TradeCentre” on March 3. He’s already talked to NHL Network about returning to his previous post as a studio analyst. And he’s already done a SiriusXM interview with Gord Stellick and Scott Laughlin and hopes to return to the show once a week soon.”

This is not a coaching opportunity, but we know how talented Boudreau is as a studio analyst and it could be an option for the remainder of the season, before teams evaluate what changes will be made, including behind the bench, ahead of the 2023-24 season.

I am sure we haven’t seen the last of Boudreau behind an NHL bench, but we may get to see him in less than six weeks if he does accept a job on television for the trade deadline.
