Major business decision announced by Stuart Skinner

The Oilers goaltender is going in a different direction.

Even though it's been over a month since the fateful Game 7 loss to the Florida Panthers in the 2024 Stanley Cup Final, the sting of falling just short of pulling off a historic reverse sweep still lingers with the Edmonton Oilers. And as you can imagine, they're focused on not only repeating their postseason success next spring, but to finish the job.

While the Oilers faced questions regarding their goaltending throughout the postseason, Stuart Skinner's performances combined with the deadly offensive attack of his teammates proved sufficient enough to propel Edmonton to within one victory of their first championship since 1990.

They're running it back next season with the duo of Skinner and Calvin Pickard, the latter of whom was signed to an extension during the offseason. But as far as Skinner is concerned, he's decided upon a major career business decision.

He's ended his business relationship with player agent J.P. Barry, and is now instead represented by Ray Petkau, who counts several goaltenders including Connor Hellebuyck, Laurent Brossoit, and James Reimer among his clientele.

Petkau announced the news on his social media account with the following message:

"We are excited to welcome Stuart Skinner to the Alpha Hockey Inc team"

Skinner has two years remaining on his current contract that carries a cap hit of $2.6 million. He posted positive numbers during the regular season, going 36-16-5 with a 2.62 goals-against average and a pair of shutouts. His goals-against average improved to 2.45 during the postseason, during which he won 14 games.
