These are the kinds of hits that can ruin careers.
Detroit Red Wings forward Lucas Raymond was victimized by a dirty knee-on-knee hit courtesy of New York Rangers forward Vincent Trochek during the 2nd period of tonight's game at Madison Square Garden:
J.T. Compher would immediately come to his teammate's aid, challenging Trocheck to drop the gloves before they were both halted by the on-ice officials.
The good news is that Raymond appears no worse for wear after understandably being a bit slow to get back to his skates, and has remained in the game.
However, this is the kind of hit that can result in a serious injury. The NHL Department of Player Safety ought to consider looking into Trocheck's actions tonight.
