Looking to leave cheating scandal behind, Ian Cole signs with Tampa

NHL fans have been too focused on the days leading up to free agency, but amidst the serious news there was a reported that defenseman Ian Cole had been caught in an affair, with allegations that he cheated on his wife with Carolina Hurricanes reporter Abby Labar.
The latter cheated on his fiance, who reportedly found out about the infidelity at their rehearsal dinner and canceled the wedding. The news of the affair has spread like wildfire on Twitter…
On Wednesday, moments after the opening of free agency, it was announced that the Tampa Bay Lightning have signed Cole to a one-year deal worth $3 million, per insider Frank Seravalli.
Last year with the Hurricanes, Cole had two goals and 19 points while bringing a physical presence to the blueline.
The 33-year-old has bounced around in his NHL career, playing with St. Louis, Pittsburgh, Columbus, Colorado, Minnesota and Carolina.
And now Tampa gets added to the list.
