Lightning call for a suspension following Kucherov injury
A suspension for forcing a guy to fall awkwardly? Not sure I get this...

Late in Game 3 of the Stanley Cup Final last night and the Tampa Bay Lightning may have lost superstar forward Nikita Kucherov due to injury.
With the Lightning comfortably nursing a 6-2 lead in the third period Kucherov took an awkward hit from Colorado Avalanche defenseman Devon Toews and promptly left the game and didn't return.
Here's the hit in question:
Ooof... that hurts just to watch. Coach Jon Cooper had no update on Kucherov's status following the game.
Former WHL player turned sports injury doctor Dr. Harjas Grewal though suspects that Kucherov may have the always dreaded high ankle sprain.
Check it out:
No word yet from the team. Meanwhile though, teammate Victor Hedman is calling for supplemental discipline on the hit calling it a "dangerous hit."
From Hedman:
“It’s a dangerous play. We’ll see if anything happens. Probably not.”
- Victor Hedman
I'm not sure what can happen? Sure Toews delivers a cross check to Kucherov's hip here, but that's certainly not worth a suspension... or even a penalty really. It's just an unfortunate play that has an unfortunate ending for Kucherov. Hopefully he recovers before Game 4 but I can't imagine the NHL reviewing this for foul play.
