Leaked waiver news sends Tristan Jarry out of Pittsburgh!

The official waiver wire comes out in a few hours, but this news has been released now:

The Pittsburgh Penguins are forced to admit that goaltender Tristan Jarry will be put on waivers at 2PMET on Wednesday.

The team confirmed the report on their official social media accounts ahead of the deadline.

The news comes a day after the Penguins blew a third period losing and went on to lose 4-2 to the Seattle Kraken. The Penguins lost three of their five-game home-stand against three teams below the playoff line. Rumours have been going rampant that general manager Kyle Dubas is looking to make significant trades in Pittsburgh. A league source said “no one is safe” on the Penguins, except players with full no-trade clauses, such as Sidney Crosby and Evgeni Malkin.”

Jarry is signed for three more years at a $5.38M cap hit, however, he has failed to meet expectation as the starting goalie in Pittsburgh.

Last season, he led the NHL with six shutouts and had a .903 save percentage and 2.91 GAA, but he is far from those numbers this time around. He now has a 8-7-4 record with a .886 save percentage and 3.32 goals-against average in 21 games this season.

Team insider Josh Yohe reported earlier on Wednesday that the Penguins "organization has reached a breaking point with Tristan Jarry."

The move will probably end up sending Jarry back to the AHL as I doubt a rival team would claim him with that contract. Even with it buried in the AHL it’ll count $4.225M toward the cap.

OTHER WAIVERS NEWS

The Colorado Avalanche has also placed one player on the waiver wire on Wednesday. Defenseman John Ludvig joined Jarry on waivers.
