Leafs’ Matthew Knies is trending thanks to his gorgeous new girlfriend

Rookie Matthew Knies had a promising 2023-24 rookie season with the Toronto Maple Leafs, and many pundits and analysts expected him to be used in the top six for the upcoming campaign.

While Knies is expected to have a standout season, he is having just as great of a summer especially when pictures of his European vacation went viral on social media earlier this week. Fans may like to keep an eye on the Maple Leafs’ forward, however his spotlight was stolen by his gorgeous girlfriend Ella Huber, who is a University of Minnesota women’s hockey player. She posted the pictures on her Instagram account and immediately, fans got Knies trending for being spotted with a tremendous hockey player, who is stunning as well.

Knies and Huber posed for photos in front of the Eiffel Tower, inside and outside of the Colosseum, and as they walked around in the streets of Italy. Knies, who is entering the final year of his entry-level contract which has an annual average value of $925,000, made sure to make memories of his tour of Europe, where his parents Miroslav and Michaela Knies from, more precisely from Slovakia.

Last season, Knies finished seventh in NHL rookie scoring as he scored 15 goals and 25 assists in 80 games with Toronto. He will be a restricted free agent after the 2024-25 season.

As for his girlfriend, Ella Huber has been playing professional hockey since 2016. She’s been a member of the Chicago Mission 16U and 19U squads, as well as having played for Team USA U18. Over the last three seasons, she’s been playing for the University of Minnesota. She had a fantastic season last year, scoring 18 goals and 24 assists in 39 games.

Gotta love the talented pair and we can’t wait to see how this nice vacation gets them ready for the next season!
