This just in, the Toronto Maple Leafs have acquired veteran defenseman Joel Edmundson from the Washington Capitals in exchange for a 3rd round pick and a 4th round pick. Additionally, the Capitals have retained 50% of Edmundson's $1.75 million cap hit.

The 30 year old native of Brandon, Manitoba has one goal and six points in 44 games with the Capitals this season. In total he has 29 goals and 110 points in 521 career NHL games split between the St. Louis Blues, Carolina Hurricanes, Montreal Canadiens and the Capitals.

The Toronto Maple Leafs announced today that the hockey club has acquired defenceman Joel Edmundson from the Washington Capitals in exchange for a third-round selection in the 2024 NHL Draft (previously owned by the New York Islanders) and a fifth-round selection in the 2025 NHL Draft (previously owned by the Chicago Blackhawks). The Capitals are retaining 50% of Edmundson’s salary.
Edmundson, 30, has collected 110 points (29 goals, 81 assists) in 521 career regular season games with Washington, Montreal, Carolina and St. Louis. The Brandon, Manitoba native has also registered 21 points in 75 career playoff contests.
