The Toronto Maple Leafs have  been without the services of forward Mitch Marner since he suffered a lower body ailment against the Boston Bruins on March 7, and he’s also not been skating. However, he did hit the ice for a brief skate yesterday, the first time he's done so since the injury.

And if this latest update on his status from head coach Sheldon Keefe is any indication, things aren’t progressing with his healthy and recovery as they had hoped.

”No update on Mitchell. He didn't skate today, so read into that what you will,” he said.

The Leafs are next in action on Thursday against the Philadelphia Flyers at Wells Fargo Center, and it certainly doesn’t sound like Marner will be playing.

With 25 goals and 51 assists this season, Marner has once again been one of Toronto's leading point producers. Right now, he's just 23 points away from matching his previous career high of 99 points, which he reached last season.

The Leafs skated with the following line combinations in their most recent practice session:

Bertuzzi – Matthews – Jarnkrok
Domi – Tavares – Nylander
Knies – Kampf – McMann
Holmberg – Dewar – Reaves
Robertson, Gregor

Brodie – McCabe
Rielly – Lyubushkin
Edmundson – Liljegren
Benoit, Giordano, Timmins
