Lanny McDonald receives beautiful ovation in return from cardiac event.
Calgary Flames legend Lanny McDonald receives a great reception from the fans in Calgary on Saturday night.
Win or lose it's going to be a beautiful night for the Calgary Flames and their fans at the Scotiabank Saddledome on Saturday night.
The Flames welcomed the Montreal Canadiens to Calgary on Saturday, but more importantly it was also the return of Calgary Flames legend Lanny McDonald for the first time since he suffered a cardiac event back in early February.
McDonald was in the building and he was introduced to the crowd who treated the former National Hockey League forward to a beautiful ovation. McDonald saluted the crowd several times, even blowing kisses to his fans, and appeared to be genuinely moved by the incredibly warm reception he received from those in attendance.
It made for a truly beautiful moment at the Saddledome tonight, one that McDonald and those in attendance won't soon forget.
McDonald suffered the cardiac event while traveling, he was at the Calgary International Airport at the time of the incident, and credited the kindness and quick thinking of bystanders and medical professionals for saving his life.
