Lane Hutson's brother is coming to the National Hockey League, but he will not be joining his brother with the Montreal Canadiens.

On Saturday, Cam Robinson of Elite Prospects broke the news that 23 year old Quinn Hutson, the older brother of Canadiens rookie sensation Lane Hutson, is expected to sign with the Edmonton Oilers, signing his entry level deal, effective immediately. Unlike his brother Lane, a defenseman, Quinn Hutson is a forward.

The move burns a year off of Quinn's entry level contract and opens the door to a very quick path to restricted free agency for the elder Hutson brother, something that the Oilers clearly don't mind in this scenario.

Quinn has spent the last 3 seasons of his hockey career with Boston University, but unquestionably had his breakout season in his most recent campaign with the school. Quinn is coming off of a 37 games season in which he had 23 goals and 27 assists, a total of 50 points, and there is little doubt in my mind that it was this most recent season that landed him on the Oilers radar.

There will no doubt be a tremendous amount of hype around Quinn's entry into the NHL given the exceptional level of success that his brother Lane has had with the Canadiens, with many pundits expecting Lane to capture the Calder Trophy this season, but it is important to temper expectations. Quinn is an undrafted prospect and it remains to be seen how well his skills will translate to the NHL level.
