The Seattle Kraken is not only getting ready for tonight’s game against the visiting Vegas Golden Knights, they’re also busy making trade.
Sportsnet insider Elliotte Friedman has just reported that the Kraken has acquired forward Daniel Sprong from the Vancouver Canucks in return for future considerations.
The Canucks and general manager Patrik Allvin confirmed the transaction moments later.
Sprong signed a one-year contract as a free agent this summer in Vancouver with a modest salary of $975,000.
He has been quite the journeyman in the NHL ever since he was selected in the second round, 46th overall by the Pittsburgh Penguins in the 2015 NHL Draft. In 2022-23, he had a breakout year in Seattle, notching 21 goals and 25 assists in 66 games. That following summer, the Kraken opted to non-tender him, getting out of a potential arbitration hearing in the process. He signed as a free agent with the Detroit Red Wings.
This season in nine games with the Canucks, Sprong has put up a goal and three points.
