Kings TV reporter shares heartbreaking health update.
A horrible update on a former colleague from Kings TV reporter Carrlyn Bathe over the weekend.
I unfortunately have an extremely heartbreaking story to share with you on this Sunday morning.
Los Angeles Kings reporter Carrlyn Bathe has shared a truly terrible health update on her former L.A. Kings Ice Crew colleague Gabby Zappia, revealing to the world that the 36 year old Zappia is currently dealing with a stage 4 cancer diagnosis. Stage 4 diagnoses are obviously extremely serious and it is especially tragic to see such a young woman, wife, and mother of 3 very young children being afflicted by such a terrible illness.
Bathe made the announcement via social media platform X in which she shared a message of support for her former colleague as well as the Go Fund Me that has been set up to help Zappia at this difficult time:
Hockey family, one of my former [L.A. Kings Ice Crew] teammates has received a Stage 4 cancer diagnosis - it’s still hard to believe one of the sweetest people is now starting her toughest battle. A [Go Fund Me] has been set up for her and her family to help with all kinds of things from treatment to meals to childcare for her 3 kiddos.
If you’re able to donate, here is the link: https://gofund.me/e3c87c23
Support comes in all forms - whether it’s a donation, a retweet, or even just keeping Gabby and her family in your thoughts, thank you for taking the time. 💕
Zappia was recently diagnosed with stage 4 colon cancer which resulted in a large portion of her colon being removed but further testing confirmed that the cancer had spread to her liver. She will now undergo 6 rounds of chemotherapy, a liver surgery and an additional 6 rounds of chemotherapy over the course of the next year in an effort to save her life.
I am happy to report that several members of the hockey community are already rallying to support Zappia in her fight against this terrible disease, with the likes of former NHLer Jarret Stoll and Dennis Bernstein of The Fourth Period, as well as of course Bathe herself, already showing their support.
As I mentioned Zappia is fighting not only for her own life but also for the sake of her husband Mike, and the couple's three young children Bella(5 years old), Scarlett(4 years old) and baby Luca(6 months old) so any form of support you are able to provide her or her family is greatly appreciated.
For those of you capable of doing so you can find the Go Fund Me linked here.
