Kevin Bieksa calls out Matt Murray.

The Minnesota Wild suffered something of a controversial loss on Friday night when they were on the wrong end of a 4-3 defeat at the hands of the Toronto Maple Leafs. The outcome of the game was marred in controversy due to a number of incidents involving veteran goaltender Matt Murray and the dislodging of his net throughout the game.

Murray managed to knock the net off of its moorings on numerous occasions throughout the game, 3 in total, and there have been genuine questions asked about whether or not Murray did so intentionally. Murray is of course presumed innocent here, but following the game Murray's actions were called into question by many including Wild head coach Dean Evason.

While I have no doubt that Murray would proclaim his innocence here, former NHL defenseman Kevin Bieksa isn't buying that Murray simply knocked the posts off by accident. On Saturday night the veteran of over 800 NHL games made it clear that he felt Murray was responsible for knocking the net off so many times during the game.

"I'm gonna say it was [his fault]" said Bieksa on Saturday night. "The reason I think it is his fault, if he's pushing off with his feet and the net is coming off the post it's the marsh peg's fault, but in all 3 of those clips his upper body pushes them off."

Bieksa pointed to Murray's body language language in the clips, specifically the movement of his arms upon making contact with the posts.

"Watch how his arm extends out," said Bieksa. "His upper body is lifting the whole net off the marsh peg."

Bieksa stopped short of suggesting that the net had been dislodged intentionally, but it is clear he did not like what he saw form the Maple Leafs goaltender on Friday night. No doubt Murray has now put himself under the microscope when it comes to this particular issue moving forward.
