Keith Tkachuk may be a five-time NHL All-Star, but he is first and foremost the father of Florida Panthers top forward

Matthew and Ottawa Senators’ captain Brady. He remains a hockey dad and on Wednesday, he had some choice word for his oldest’s team on Toronto 1050 ahead of tonight’s game against the Maple Leafs in Toronto.

Keith Tkachuk revealed how devastated Matthew is with the Panthers’ current spot in the playoff run as Florida rides a four-game losing streak. Keith believes the Panthers are in the position they currently are because of their own doing. He was in attendance Monday night when the Panthers lost 5-2 to Brady and the Senators and he was not impressed with Matthew’s team.

“This is do-or-die for the Panthers right now," Keith told First Up with Korolnek & Colaiacovo.

“I watched them the other night and I know I am staying at Brady’s house and Brady’s team played really well. They have some jam and, you know, I am a little disappointed with the Panthers.

“They are a soft team and they are getting everything they deserve right now.”

Keith Tkachuk was not done there. He believes that the Panthers need to bring a little more toughness to their game if they want to snap their losing streak. And maybe start playing like… the Senators!

“Instead of trying to get autographs on the ice from Matthews and Marner,” he said, “they probably should check them a little harder. Whatever it is, it is disappointing. I know I sound like a frustrated person, but I know every time I come and watch Ottawa, they may not be the most talented team but they’re going to play hard.

”Perhaps Florida could take a page out of their book.”

Keith Tkachuk is adamant that Matthew enjoys playing in Florida, but admits he is not thrilled with how this season has gone.

Ahead of Wednesday night’s action, the Panthers are three points back of the Pittsburgh Penguins for the final wild card spot with eight games to play.
