Keith Tkachuk gets roasted by former NHL coach for “unacceptable behaviour”

Matthew Tkachuk’s father hears it:

Tonight is the third contest of the second round series between the Florida Panthers and Boston Bruins, and many will be watching especially after the third period of Game 2. Star players Matthew Tkachuk and David Pastrnak fought each other with Tkachuk landing a couple of right-hand blows before Pastrnak fell to the ice in a 6-1 win for Florida as the series now shifts to Boston.

When Tkachuk got the best of Pasta, cameras focused on his father, former NHLer Keith Tkachuk, who could been seen looking proud and celebrating his son’s actions from the stands in Florida.

Former NHL head coach Michel Bergeron admitted on the JiC show from TVA Sports in Montreal how upset he is to see Keith Tkachuk behaving this way.

The former Quebec Nordiques head coach did not mince his words when talking about Matthew Tkachuk’s dad, calling him a “big idiot”.

This is translated from French, but this is what Bergeron had to say about Keith Tkachuk just minutes before Game 3 in Boston:

“They say that the NHL is the lead example for young athletes, coaches and parents. We stand up against parents who attack and shout at their children, opponents or referees in minor circuits. But there, we Daddy Tkachuk raise his arms and celebrate, and he played in the National League… Look at this big idiot!

“This is the example that will get to parents. We will hear some say: “Tkachuk did it with his son in the NHL and if my son plays peewee B: I’m going to do the same thing for him to reach the league.” It really takes a big idiot…”

On Wednesday, Game 2 combined 148 penalty minutes, including 12 misconduct penalties and while Keith Tkachuk might have enjoyed it, the NHL did not.

According to insider Darren Dreger of TSN, the NHL has sent a warning to both the Bruins and Panthers ahead of Game 3, letting them know that the series “will be heavily scrutinized moving forward.”

Let’s see what happens tonight as the best-of-seven second round series is tied at a game apiece.
