For most of us, today was just another typical summer Saturday but for Calgary Flames forward Nazem Kadri today was perhaps one of the most special days of his young life. Today was the day that Kadri, a former member of the Stanley Cup winning Colorado Avalanche, got to have his day with the Stanley Cup.

Although the day is far from over it has already proven to be an incredibly memorable one for Kadri who became the first man to bring the Stanley Cup to a mosque on Saturday, bringing it to his local mosque in London, Ontario. There he received a warm reception from the fans who gathered to celebrate with him, with Kadri getting a little parade of his own to mark the incredible achievement.

Much to his credit, in spite of the fact that his time with the Toronto Maple Leafs came to something of a controversial end, Kadri showed a great deal of love to the Maple Leafs faithful that gathered to congratulate him on his big day. One young fan that had held up a sign that read "Leafs Nation misses you Kadri" even had the pleasure of having Kadri autograph her sign, a memory that she will no doubt cherish for a long time to come.

Even when asked about the possibility that things could have been different with his former team, Kadri showed nothing but love for the fans in Toronto and was also quick to remind everyone that it wasn't his choice to leave the team.

"It is what it is," said Kadri. "At the end of the day, that wasn’t my decision [to leave]. Regardless of who takes a chance on me, I’m going to give them everything I have. I’ve great Toronto supporters and that’s never gonna change."

It would seem that Kadri also has plenty of love for his former Maple Leafs teammates as well. Kadri indicated that he intends to celebrate with some of those former teammates later tonight, although he wouldn't reveal which of those former teammates would be included in the celebration.

"I won’t spill the beans for their sake, but it will be quite the celebration," said the former Maple Leaf.
