The hockey community is still reeling in shock over the tragic news of National Hockey League star Johnny Gaudreau's passing after both he and his brother Matthew Gaudreau were struck and killed by a drunk driver while cycling, but no one can possibly imagine what members of the Gaudreau family are currently experiencing.

On Saturday morning, the wife of Johnny Gaudreau, Meredith Gaudreau, took to social media to share some of her thoughts on the untimely passing of her husband, publishing an emotional message to her Instagram account along with several beautiful pictures of their family.

I will warn you right now, if you would prefer not to cry you may want to stop reading here as these messages from Meredith are nothing short of devastating.

Meredith delivered two messages on Instagram, the first was from the perspective of a grieving wife.

"Thank you for the best years of my life. Despite losing you, I am still the luckiest girl in the world to have been yours. I love you so so much. You were perfect. Some days it felt too good to be true. I love every single thing about you. You are my forever and I can’t wait to be with you again. I love you so much forever and ever."

The second message was from the perspective of Johnny's young children, two beautiful kids that will now be denied the chance to grow up with what appeared to be a devoted and loving father.

"The absolute best dad in the world. So caring and loving. The best partner to go through parenthood with. John never missed a single appointment. Was the best at putting the baby to sleep and the Apple of Noa’s eye. I love how much she looks like him. We are going to make you proud. We love you so so so much daddy"
