Johnny Gaudreau makes a wish come true before his passing.
Johnny Gaudreau is gone, but the mark that he left on this world and the people in it will live on for a very long time.
The hockey community is in mourning after the sudden, unexpected and tragic death of young National Hockey League star Johnny Gaudreau of the Columbus Blue Jackets. Johnny and his brother Matthew Gaudreau were killed on Thursday night after being struck by a driver that is suspected of having been under the influence of alcohol at the time of the incident.
This has resulted in an outpouring of love and support from the hockey community and from across the entire sports world as the impact that Gaudreau left on the world is being felt perhaps more than ever before. Every single story highlight's not only what a great hockey player we've lost this week, but also the fact that, as good as he was on the ice, Johnny Gaudreau may have been an even better man than he was a hockey player.
The latest comes to us from none other than the Make-A-Wish foundation, who published a video on Friday showcasing a recent wish that Johnny had helped make a reality. In the video, Johnny welcomes one of his most loyal fans to Columbus and we are introduced to Alex, who came all the way from New Brunswick, Canada, to meet his idol.
Alex ends up with much more than he bargained for, expecting to meet Johnny for only a brief moment but instead being treated to a once in a lifetime experience where he is given a personal tour by Gaudreau himself, and even gets to share a smoothie with the NHL star.
Throughout the video we can clearly see how much this moment means not only to Alex, but also to both of his parents who are clearly overjoyed at the warm reception Johnny has given their sick child.
It is truly a testament to what a kind and good man Johnny Gaudreau truly was.
