John Klingberg has just signed new contract, is back in NHL!
BREAKING NEWS | Full details below:
It was expected that free agent defenseman John Klingberg would make his decision shortly and he now has. According to Elliotte Friedman of Sportsnet, the blue liner has signed with the Edmonton Oilers.
The Oilers made the news official later on Friday afternoon, announcing the one-year contract with the veteran blue liner.
Klingberg is making a comeback after spending more than a year working his way back from a double hip resurfacing surgery.
The Oilers are the winners of these sweepstakes as the Dallas Stars, Colorado Avalanche, Toronto Maple Leafs and Ottawa Senators were reportedly also in the mix.
Last season with the Maple Leafs, Klingberg had five assists in 14 games before having to undergo the hip surgery. He hasn’t played in the league since November 2023.
