Veteran defenseman John Klingberg has been traded to the Minnesota Wild. The Anaheim Ducks receive in return a fourth-round pick in 2025, Andrej Sustr and rights to young prospect Nikita Nesterenko. The Ducks are also retaining half the salary of Klingberg.
Klingberg was held out of the Anaheim Ducks lineup during Wednesday’s game against the Washington Capitals for the famous trade-related reasons. Earlier today, it was reported that both the Tampa Bay Lightning and Seattle Kraken are among the teams monitoring price today on Klingberg.
Before the Edmonton Oilers acquired Mattias Ekholm from the Nashville Predators, they were believed to be highly interested in Klingberg. However, the Wild came out the winners of the Klingberg sweepstakes.
In his ninth season in the NHL, Klingberg has recorded eight goals and 16 assists in 50 games this season. His next point will come as a member of the Wild.
